Procedures & Services

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery is the specialty of dentistry that includes the diagnosis, surgical and adjunctive treatment of diseases, injuries and defects involving both the functional and esthetic aspects of the hard and soft tissues of the oral and maxillofacial region.

Please feel free to review some of the common oral and maxillofacial procedures listed here. This is not a comprehensive list of procedures. If you feel you have a condition that Northwest Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons may be able to assist you with, please contact us for additional information.

Dental Implants

Most solutions for missing teeth involve substituting the teeth with bridges or dentures. Dental implants are finally a solution that replaces a missing tooth.

Dental implants are titanium tooth root replacements placed in the jaw bone as a support for your new teeth. Our surgeons are very experienced in the restoration of smiles with dental implants and have performed many implant procedures. High-tech materials and innovative treatments make dental implants the perfect solution for patients with missing teeth.

Working with your dentist, the oral and maxillofacial surgeon helps to design a treatment plan and places the implants. Your dentist designs and places the artificial teeth onto the implant device.

If you would like more information regarding dental implants or would like to visit Northwest Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons for a FREE dental implant consultation, please contact us for assistance.

Northwest Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons will not compromise on implant quality.  We use only top-of-the-line "Biomet 3i" implants.

Dental Extractions

Third molars, or "wisdom teeth" often cause crowding problems in the mouth due to lack of adequate space to erupt normally in the jaw bone. Overcrowding can lead to pain, infection, and damage to adjacent teeth. Extraction of third molars is a frequent solution. Whether impacted (blocked from erupting) or partially erupted, third molar extractions are performed as an outpatient procedure in the office.

Dr. Windell and Dr. Lieblick also remove diseased or complicated teeth when necessary.

Orthognathic Surgery

Orthognathic surgery is used to correct facial and jaw irregularities and usually involves the repositioning of one or both jaws. This surgery is used to correct an "open bite" or to correct a receding lower jaw or jaw alignment irregularities. It can also be helpful to correct a flattened facial profile, a protrusive lower jaw or an overly "gummy" smile. Orthognathic surgery is typically performed in conjunction with orthodontics to straighten and realign individual teeth.

If you believe that you may benefit from orthognathic surgery, Dr. Lieblick or Dr. Windell will be happy to evaluate your facial features and discuss your options with you.

Anesthesia Services

Advances in anesthesia and medical technology mean that your surgical experience should be relaxing and comfortable. From local to general anesthesia, Dr. Windell and Dr. Lieblick are skilled in choosing and administering medication to control pain and anxiety for each patient.

All of our surgical assistants have completed additional training as oral and maxillofacial surgery anesthesia assistants for your added safety and comfort.  Each assistant is ACLS certified and certified Anesthesia Assistants by the Oregon Board of Dentistry.
